13th Annual Rib Cook Off Fundraiser
This ongoing tradition is one of our favorite events of the year. We host judges from local restaurants to judge tasty ribs prepared by our celebrity chefs. This year's judges were Heather Houck from Wild Fork Catering, Sal Addonisio from Sal's New York Grill and Catering, and Chris Lazaro from Spenard Roadhouse. Our chefs were David Brame, Joe Charles, John Quinley, Oak Ritchie, Charles Spalding, Mark Johnson, and Jory Knott.
This event would not have been possible without the help of our hardworking staff, board, volunteers and sponsors. We express our sincerest gratitude for Turnagain Brewing, Tanana Chiefs Conference, CIRI, Sealaska, Clayton & Diemer LLC, Cook Inlet Tribal Council and the Alaska Native Justice Center. We also received generous prize donations from Spalding Dental, Tiny Gallery, Alaska E-Bike, and Excellence in Health.
Thank you to everyone who came out to support AKIP, we hope to see you next year!

"It Could Happen To You"
Unfortunately, Audrey and TJ's stories are very similar. Audrey, the neighborhood mom in a small town in Wisconsin, was incarcerated shortly after the birth of her third child. Based on forensic science that has since been refuted, Audrey was torn from her family and wrongfully incarcerated for 11 years. Our client TJ Edwards was also wrongfully convicted based on now discredited science of Shaken Baby Syndrome. He spent 15 years incarcerated -- torn away from his young family.
